Dillon Square Deal B

I love my SDB! Once you start working on it, you never want to stop.
Agreed Woodchuk! I love my SDB. Bought mine set up for. 357 mag and bought a conversion kit recently for 45 auto. I love reloading on this press. I plan on buying an xl650 in the future for .223 but I can't see reloading pistol on anything but my SDB!

How long does it take to convert the SDB from one caliber to another?

It took me about 30 minutes to convert from .357 to .45. The hardest part was setting up my crimp. I had to go an eighth of a turn at a time until I had enough crimp to plunk into my Ruger 1911 barrel which is my tightest chamber .45 I have. It's really nice that Dillon has a complete conversion kit with dies and stems for any cartridge you reload for.

OK, so once it's set then about how long between change over. I am going to have to check it out.

I bought the quick change kit with the extra toolhead, powder measure, and stand. With 4 screws, the shellplate and locator pins I'd say you could change cartridges in 10-15 minutes with the other toolhead set up.

30 minutes? Wow. I can do a caliber change on my 1050 in 15 to 20 min, incl primer station. I'd love me a Square Deal but don't like having to buy extra dies for it. Calibers are also limited. I think this is important to know for beginners, because I almost fell for this. If budget is not the concern, I'd always go for a 550, its not that much more.

It took me 30 minutes to set up the toolhead for. 45 auto but I bought the quick change kit to do quick caliber changes. With the quick change kit I can convert my press in about the time you can change your 1050 over. I can appreciate the 550 for the ability to do rifle but I like the auto indexing of the SDB. I think the SDB is a great press for pistol cartridges.

That's true, If your calibers are covered and you don't shoot / reload rifle, or get this done one another press, you are golden.
